Like it's neighboring communities, Tarzana is disected by the Ventura Blvd and Route 101, the Ventura Freeway. Hills are south of the Boulevard where many post world war two, 3 and 4 bedroom homes reside. The newer homes found here are big custom and very pricey. And of course, many of the homes in the hills have wonderful views. In the flats north of the boulevard, there are tract homes mixed in with some very impressive large lovely custom homes. Because of its close proximity to "The Biz" many television, movie and recording stars live in Tarzana.
Believe it or not Tarzana was named after Tarzan. The writer of the Tarzan books, Edgar Rice Burroughs purchased a large tract of land and built "Tarzana Ranch". Later the land was subdivided, sold for residential development and residents renamed the town after the jungle warrior.
Tarzana is also home to several parks and El Caballero Country Club and Braemar Country Club. Restaurants, bookstores, boutiques, movie theaters line Ventura Blvd.
Luxurious gated Tarzana communities include: Mulholland Park, Silverhawk Ridge, Monte Verde and Braemar Estates.
